Welcome to the Kiklukh Lodge

exceptional fishing and

breathtaking natural beauty

Embark on a journey to the rugged, remote coastline of Alaska's Pacific shore and discover the lost coast of the "Last Frontier."

Join us at our remote fishing lodge located between Cordova, a quaint fishing town 100 miles to the west, and Yakutat, 200 miles to the east, where wild and untamed wilderness awaits.

Experience the thrill of the silver salmon run in late August, September, and early October, when thousands of these hard-fighting, delicious fish swim upstream to spawn in the Kiklukh River and its neighboring streams.

Everything you need is included in your stay, from the shuttle flight to our lodge, to comfortable separate cabins, homestyle meals, expert and friendly guides, and access to all the fishing gear you need. Whether you prefer fly fishing or spinning tackle, you’re sure to have a memorable time on the water.

Take a break from fishing and immerse yourself in the diverse and abundant wildlife that call this area home. Spot black bears, bald eagles, wolves,  otters, trumpeter swans, and moose, or witness the spectacle of a coastal brown bear drawn to the area by the salmon runs. And who knows, you may even catch a glimpse of a dead whale washed up on the beach!

Enjoy six full days of fishing and make memories that will last a lifetime. Keep in mind that all travel and fishing plans are subject to the whims of coastal Alaska’s famously unpredictable weather, so bring your patience and sense of adventure. Temperatures during this time of year typically range from the high 40s to low 50s, so come prepared for a true Alaskan experience. With delicious food, comfortable lodgings, and unparalleled fishing opportunities, we promise an unforgettable adventure in the vast wilderness. We hope to see you soon!

Fishing

Our fishing season at the Kiklukh Lodge runs from late August through the middle of October. Our trips run from Friday to Friday. The Kiklukh River surrenders to an annual run of silver salmon, somewhere in the nature of 20,000 fish. This specific strain of Coho along the North Gulf Coast is larger in average than the Coho in southwest or western Alaska. Coho on the Kiklukh average twelve pounds, with many fish taken during a week’s fishing between thirteen to eighteen pounds. Each year several fish in the twenty-pound category are caught and released. The unofficial lodge record was a weighed, fly-caught chromer that tipped the sales at twenty-two pounds and four ounces.

Catch and Release

Each guest is allowed to keep and bring home six salmon. In the spirit of sportsmanship and conservation in preserving these world-class fisheries, we ask that all trout and steelhead be released. We also ask that all treble hooks on lures be replaced with single barb-less hooks. Your salmon will be cleaned, flash frozen and boxed for shipping home. There is always a batch of salmon in the smokehouse for hors d’oeuvres while at the lodge.

Fishing Licenses

Fishing licenses can be purchased at the lodge or purchased on-line from Alaska Game and Fish. A seven-day license costs $55.00.
